| Urban & regional
development
The aim of sustainable development is to meet the needs of the
present without compromising the ability of future generations
to meet their own needs. The wider objective of sustainable development
is to find the optimal level of interaction among three systems
- the biological and resource system, the economic system and
the social system, through a dynamic and adaptive process of trade-offs.
Rupprecht Consult focusses on urban environmental planning and
management processes based on a participatory approach. We have
capacities in implementing community environmental policies and
legislation for the promotion of sustainable development both
in the European context and in developing countries.
Our expertise related to sustainable urban development includes
the involvement in the following projects and programmes:
METEOR / CIVITAS - Integrated
urban transport strategies
LIFE - Monitoring environmental
demonstration projects
EMIS - Capacity building in
management information systems
MILES - Managing information
for local environment in Sri Lanka
