LIFE
Monitoring in Germany and Austria
|
| |
LIFE is a financial instrument created by the Environment
General Directorate of the European Commission for three major
areas of action: Environment, Nature and Third Countries.
LIFE dates back to 1992. The first phase was completed
in 1995.
|
| |
Project Goal |
| |
The key objective of LIFE-Environment is to implement
Community environmental policies and legislation for the promotion
of sustainable development. Sustainable development requires industry
to find innovative solutions to reduce total life-cycle costs in
terms of raw materials, energy consumption and environmental impact
while reusing products at the end of their lives. LIFE-Environment
provides support for both industry and local authorities.
|
| |
Expected results |
| |
Strategies of sustainable development will be developed
and promoted thus enhancing the spread of environmental know how.
In the long run, LIFE projects will help to make the environment
healthier.
